About

Welcome to my blog! I am creating this blog to capture key moments throughout my student teaching journey at Desert Edge High School. So, how did I get here? Why do I want to teach ag?

I wholeheartedly believe that successful learning occurs when you provide students with intentional curriculum and opportunities that allow them to apply their knowledge and think critically about the everchanging world around them. Good teachers are driven by student success and care about what students take away from their class and use in the future. My hope as a teacher, above all else, is to help develop young adults who are passionate about learning, care about the world around them, and use their skills to become positive change agents. Agricultural education is an excellent way to build consumer awareness and create opportunities for personal growth. Having students apply themselves in content areas outside of their traditional classes allows them to develop skills in new areas and opens career and growth opportunities. The vast career opportunities in agriculture, food, and natural resources provides students with secure, viable choices after graduation. Agriculture education programs develop students’ hard and soft skills, which can be carried through their career and everyday life. I always knew I wanted to pursue a career that allowed me to create positive change, and I cannot think of a more important task than helping provide young adults the skills they need to be successful in their personal and professional lives.
